First things first. I purchased the domain at 1 and 1 because they are cheap. Even Cheaper than GoDaddy. I think .com domains are just $6.99 per year. It’s tough to beat that. If you are looking for a domain to purchase that includes your keyword, then I recommend DomainFinder. Just plug in “Glyphius 2008″ and it will tell you what is available and what is taken. Actually, you can plug in any keyword or phrase.  And the best part is that it’s free.

Next I set up a hosting account. I use many, including Hostgator. For Glyphius 2008, I decided on a sales letter, and the most efficient software for that is Muvar. So I installed Muvar, multivariate testing software on my new hosting account and pointed the DNS to it from 1 and 1.

Write the sales letter for Glyphius copywriting software including a few variations and load it onto Muvar at Glyphius2008.com. I decide on a comparison between Glyphius 2007 and Glyphius 2008 as the main purpose of my salesletter because there is very little difference between the two and Glyphius 2008 costs more than $200 more.

And then I blogged about Glyphius 2008. Why blog? In a word, rankings. In another word, links. Although there are supposedly 4 resellers of Glyphius 2008, I can only find one using Google, and they are not even ranked in the top 10. I figure that there must be people looking for it using Google and I am right. The first of my 10 copies sells.

Today I set up a lens on Squidoo all about Glyphius 2008. The main purpose is to have another page that generates links and traffic and has another shot at being ranked in the search engines. Squidoo is highly respected by Google and pages often get high rankings. We shall see how well my Glyphius 2008 lens does.

This may seem like a lot of work considering I only have 10 copies of Glyphius 2007 for sale. However, I’m hoping to be a reseller for Glyphius 2008 at some point after the 2007 software is no longer available. Because when it comes down to it, Glyphius is great software that everyone who has an Internet Business needs.

Not bad, but still, I would have thought it might have been higher. Once I seem to have worked out the issues with Muvar, it jumped to the #5 position, but those issues seemed to ahve returned and so it dropped back down. Ahh, the power of meta tags and content.

I sold one copy of Glyphius 2007 and have just 9 left. As you can see on Glyphius2008.com, there is really very little difference between Glyphius 2007 and Glyphius 2008.

The creator, James Brausch has noted that the change in data from year to year makes about a 1-2% difference. If that’s worth the additional $215 or so you will pay for Glyphius 2008, then be my guest. If you’d rather save the money, head over to Glyphius2008.com and buy a copy of Glyphius 2007.

You’d think you’d be able to find a copy. Going to James’s website there is a link to one of them, and if you Google Glyphius 2008, you can find that supplier somewhere on the second page. But I can’t find the other 3 anywhere.

I’d love to find them since I own the domain Glyphius2008.com and would like to either be an affiliate or a reseller. I mean, I did invest $10, I’d like to recoup that investment.

For now, I’ve put up a sales page for Glyphius 2007, since I have 10 copies left. After all, when James was selling the rights to an earlier version of Glyphius, he noted that, “The data doesn’t change much from year to year, but a 1 or 2% effectiveness decrease does happen about each year.”

So, if anyone knows who has the rights to sell Glyphius 2008 and how to contact them, I’d love to hear. I’d be happy to help them make money. In the meantime, we will see how I did with my sales page on Glyphius2008.com and see if I will get a pretty good Google ranking. I suspect the domain alone should qualify me for #1. We shall see.

I  ordered it because I couldn’t resist the bonus. The bonus for ordering included a piece of software that I wanted and it was cheaper to order the newsletter and get the bonus than it was to just order the software.

I always like getting packages in the mail, even when I know what is in them. Today I received 2, one that I knew the contents of and this one, a bit larger. I was pleased to see it included the 2 bonuses, including that piece of software. And that was it.

There was no note. No receipt. Not even a return address.

Top marketers know there is something called stickiness. Whenever you ship an item, include something that will surprise and delight the recipient. You don’t ever want him to take you up on your money back guarantee.  For instance, I recently had a customer order a piece of software from me. Between here and Australia, the USPS managed to lose it. Since I didn’t want to refund his money, I sent him another piece of software as a free bonus and as a thank you for his patience.

It wasn’t my fault, but the customer doesn’t care.  Don’t miss an opportunity to be nice, appreciate your customers, and say thank you. Even when you are already giving them something for free. You probably did that to build the relationship in the first place.

One way of finding out is to track your time and find out what you spend the most time doing. That’s ridiculous, you say. But it is not. We spend time doing those things we value the most. And if you don’t like the way you are spending your time, or you don’t like the values you are living, then change them.

In addition to my Internet business, I am a fundraising consultant to not-for-profits. If you’ve been following me for more than a couple of months, you know about my other blog that now focuses on Fundraising Ideas but used to include internet business as well. Yesterday I wrote about feeling a higher sense of responsibility to my clients because not only are they paying me for my work, but their funding comes from donors, not from sales.

My original plan was to phase out the consulting part of my business as my interent business grows. It turns out that my knowledge and work toward marketing this business is growing that business as well. So lately I’m feeling rather crunched for time. How can I get it all done and where does the time go?

RescueTime to the rescue. A fantastic new web based program, totally free, at least for now, that tracks how you iuse your time when you are at your computer. I’ve only been using it a few days and it is amazing. I’ve known that anything you track, you imporve, since going into business more than 30 years ago.  And RescueTime is perfect to help you track minutes and hours that seemed to get away.

I’m a news junky and love politics too. So this is not the best season for productivity. But as long as I see that I’ve already spent 45 minutes reading news or politics, I know that it is taking too much from my day. I do value the knowledge and intellectual stimulation I get from reading that stuff, but not as much as I value doing work on building the aspect of my business that will give me the freedom to stop selling my time for money, even at the $1500 per day I currently charge.
