First things first. I purchased the domain at 1 and 1 because they are cheap. Even Cheaper than GoDaddy. I think .com domains are just $6.99 per year. It’s tough to beat that. If you are looking for a domain to purchase that includes your keyword, then I recommend DomainFinder. Just plug in “Glyphius 2008″ and it will tell you what is available and what is taken. Actually, you can plug in any keyword or phrase.  And the best part is that it’s free.

Next I set up a hosting account. I use many, including Hostgator. For Glyphius 2008, I decided on a sales letter, and the most efficient software for that is Muvar. So I installed Muvar, multivariate testing software on my new hosting account and pointed the DNS to it from 1 and 1.

Write the sales letter for Glyphius copywriting software including a few variations and load it onto Muvar at Glyphius2008.com. I decide on a comparison between Glyphius 2007 and Glyphius 2008 as the main purpose of my salesletter because there is very little difference between the two and Glyphius 2008 costs more than $200 more.

And then I blogged about Glyphius 2008. Why blog? In a word, rankings. In another word, links. Although there are supposedly 4 resellers of Glyphius 2008, I can only find one using Google, and they are not even ranked in the top 10. Today I set up a lens on Squidoo all about Glyphius 2008. The main purpose is to have another page that generates links and traffic and has another shot at being ranked in the search engines. Squidoo is highly respected by Google and pages often get high rankings. We shall see how well my Glyphius 2008 lens does.

This may seem like a lot of work considering I only have 10 copies of Glyphius 2007 for sale. However, I’m hoping to be a reseller for Glyphius 2008 at some point after the 2007 software is no longer available. Because when it comes down to it, Glyphius is great software that everyone who has an Internet Business needs.

Some information products or software are easily worth the investment of a $7 or $35 or even $100. There are few that are worth every penny no matter the price. The key to a successful Super Bowl campaign has become creating buzz with your ad. In 2005, CNN money wrote an article noting that one way to get the most bang for your buck is to “Produce a tasteless ad that television executives reject, make it publicly available, and let the free publicity flow.” Sounds like great advice if you don’t care much for your reputation.

I think Doritos, on the hand, figured out the real formula. Sponsor a contest in conjunction with a big Web 2.o such as Facebook, MySpace, or YouTube. I think Doritos went with Yahoo and another. They created a contest and issued a challenge to have anyone who wanted to do so to create a commercial for them. Can you say “zero production cost?” Can you say “Zero creative costs?”

OK, so we know that they had to pay the agency to come up with the idea and to promote the contest, so there were some creative costs. But think about the bang for the buck. While other advertisers were spending all their money on 30 seconds, Doritos invested the money that otherwise would have been spent on production promoting the contest, and their product for, three to six months. Brilliant!

They know that the social networking websites already get more traffic combined than does Google. Yes, those are big numbers. And they are growing by double digits every quarter and multiples annual. Of course that kind of growth cannot continue forever, but who cares. If you want to generate real traffic, you need a way to access those people who are online on the social networking sites.
